Rats on Rafts boeken

Rats on Rafts are from Rotterdam and their style has been compared to a mix of Post Punk and New Wave with elements of C86 and pre baggy by an excitable press. Comparisons to the Fire Engines, The Cure, The Chameleons and The Specials and have also been bandied about. The band swear spiritual allegiance to the Rotterdam’s New Wave, Pop and Punk scenes with one proviso, the weirder the better. Rats have been together for a few years and, after boring themselves into finally getting good, they embarked on a phase which is slowly seeing them recognized as something a bit special by their own countrymen.

In 2008 Rats released their first EP, “So Long And Thanks For All The Fish”. The record received good (if somewhat bemused) reviews
and saw them play on 3voor 12’s “Hollandse Nieuwe” nights and the “Local Heroes” event, hosted by Dutch magazine Live XS.
Their other record, a single, “The Moneyman” (a cover of a song by Rotterdam heroes KIEM) was released in September 2010.
The record was brought out on their own label and was produced by KIEM frontman, Huub Kentie.

The b-side to this single, “Plastic Plaster” was played by Cerys Matthews on her BBC 6Music show
